Karl's Day Has Come...Twice
I have read this anecdote twice now (TNR and The Slate):
Karl Rove must have known things didn't go well when the New York Post asked him whether this was the worst debate of President Bush's life. No, Rove insisted. This was one of the president's best debates, and one of John Kerry's worst. "Really?" asked the reporter, Vince Morris. "You can say that with a straight face?"
I am desperately trying not to gloat, since the election is not yet held. But I hurt so bad this time 4 years ago when Al Gore was skewered that the basking is hard to resist. I still believed that the country would not be so ignorant as to fault Gore for sighing too much, but we are all wiser now. At least, I "vociferously" hope so.
